Improving Your Small Business focuses addressing the challenges of any small business, from sales to delivery and most of the bits in between.

Who Do I Work With?

  • Small companies. “Small” means a company where there is easy access to the owner and staff, so that challenges can be quickly understood and addressed. “Small” might be between 1 and 50 people.
  • Companies that provide any type of product or service, from flowers, pool repair, manufactured components, plumbing or cup cake delivery.
  • Companies that know they want to improve one or more aspects of their operation but don't know where to start or how to proceed, or they are overwhelmed.
  • Companies that are willing to be introspective, try something (anything!), and learn what happens.

About Me

  • I am a consultant with 33 of years experience in helping companies improve their performance.
  • Before being a consultant, I was a software developer and project manager in Texas Instruments.
  • The first company I co-founded in 1990, The Process Group, focuses on improving the project management and engineering skills of software and IT development teams. This allows them get their products out with less cost, risk, and hassle. It is still active today after 32+ years.
  • This company, Improving Your Small Business, focuses on small businesses that provide any product or service. I look at your business activities from sales to delivery and most of the bits in between

My Approach

  • I help you improve your business without you spending a lot of money.
  • I am totally reliable and responsive — if you ask a question, or make a request, you will get a reply. If you don’t get a reply, then some rotten computer server failed somewhere — call or text my cellphone as a backup.
  • If I know I can’t help you, I’ll say so. For example, I don’t deal with specific accounting, tax or legal issues — that is definitely for accounting, tax and legal people. See the list on the services page for examples of where I help.
  • Using me is risk-free — if for some reason you don’t like what we did together, then you can get a refund. That has not happened in 30+ years, but the offer still holds.
  • Discussions and quotes leading up to contracted work are free. An estimate is provided before work commences. I never exceed the estimate for the work agreed to. I will always look for ways to keep your costs down.
